“That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me. But it is the same with any life. Imagine one selected day struck out of it and think how different its course would have been. Pause you who read this and think for a moment of the long chain of iron and gold, of thorns or flowers that would never have bound you but for the formation of the first link on that memorable day.”

Pip in Great Expectations
by Charles Dickens[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Since 19th century educator Kurt Hahn pioneered the idea of outdoor education, there has been a growing recognition all over the world of the value of such transformative experiences. Today, outdoor education is widely regarded as an essential part of a holistic education. Outdoor education programmes aim to expose students to experiences and activities that give them opportunities to:

  • apply their knowledge and build on existing skills to solve problems
  • work collaboratively with others to initiate and execute activities
  • increase self-awareness and view challenge as a vehicle for personal growth
  • reflect on the relationship between themselves, society and nature, and engage in issues of local and global importance

At A-Team EDventures, we take the educational value of outdoor adventures one step further. Besides imparting life skills such as the ones mentioned above, we believe that outdoor education programmes should be regarded as a part of and not apart from the school curriculum. As such, we take pride in working closely with schools to deliver programmes with adventurous activities that reinforce educational concepts that students encounter in the classroom. Some examples from past programmes include:

  • the physics of wave action and surfing
  • the geology of Hong Kong and kayaking
  • mangrove habitat studies and kayaking
  • freshwater stream habitat studies and canyoning
